Overview
When the Fan Stops, the Kitchen Stops
Your exhaust fan pulls smoke, heat, and grease-laden air out of the kitchen. When it fails, smoke rolls into the dining room, the kitchen heats up fast, and you may not be able to cook safely at all.
A&A diagnoses and repairs commercial upblast and utility exhaust fans — replacing worn belts, bearings, and pulleys, rebuilding or replacing motors, and installing hinge kits so the fan can be safely opened for cleaning. When a fan is beyond repair, we replace it.

Why It Matters
Small Problems Become Big Ones on the Roof
A squealing belt or wobbling fan is a warning sign. Ignored, it can lead to a burned-out motor, a broken shaft, or a fan that stops in the middle of a dinner rush. Grease buildup on the fan blades also throws them off balance and wears out bearings early.
NFPA 96 calls for upblast fans to be hinged so they can be tilted open for cleaning and inspection. If your fan doesn’t have a hinge kit, your hood cleaner can’t properly clean it — and that’s a fire risk.

Questions & Answers
Exhaust Fan Repair FAQ
How do I know if my exhaust fan belt is going bad?
Squealing at startup, reduced airflow, and visible cracks or fraying on the belt are common signs. We check belts during every hood cleaning and replace them before they fail.
Can you replace an exhaust fan the same day?
Many repairs, like belts and bearings, can be done on the first visit. Motors and complete fans may need to be ordered; we’ll keep you informed and work to get you running as fast as possible.
What is a hinge kit and do I need one?
A hinge kit lets the fan tilt open so the fan and duct below it can be cleaned and inspected. NFPA 96 calls for upblast fans to be hinged, and they make cleaning safer and more thorough.
Does grease damage exhaust fans?
Yes. Grease buildup unbalances the fan wheel, wears out bearings, and can leak onto your roof. Regular hood cleaning — including the fan — prevents most of these problems.
